Boating & Water Recreation

Yatesville Lake is located entirely in Lawrence County, Kentucky, on Blaine Creek; a tributary of the Big Sandy River. It was built under the Flood Control Act of 1965. The dam is rockfill, with a central impervious core and founded on rock. The length of the lake and boatable arms is 20.6 miles upstream from the dam and 18.1 miles upstream from where it flows into the Big Sandy River. The maximum depth of the lake is 60 feet with an average mean depth of 17.7 feet. The shoreline measures 93.9 miles at summer pool level. The lake's watershed is 208 miles. Winter Pool Elevation - 624.0 m.s.l. (1,745 acres) Summer Pool Elevation - 630.0 m.s.l. (2,242 acres) Flood Pool Elevation - 645.0 m.s.l. (3,805 acres)
Marina
Yatesville Lake State Park Marina is located at the Barkers Launch Ramp area. The Marina is managed by the Kentucky Department of Parks and provides customers with docking facilities, boat rentals, boating/fishing and picnic supplies. For information regarding the Marina, call (606) 686-2361

Local Parks

Chapman Park - located in the southwest part of the county.  Driving directions are US Route 23 to Louisa, just south of Louisa, take State Route 644 to Route 1690.  Follow Route 1690 for approximately 10 miles to State Route 2037.  This is a small winding road which leads directly into the park area.  Limited facilities at the park include a tennis court, restrooms, basketball court and ballfield and campsites with electric hookups.  There is a small picnic shelter also available.  The park is reserved on the July 4th holiday for the Chapman Reunion (2-3 day reunion).  For more information, call (606)-638-4102.
 

Blaine City Park On Route 32 Between Blain and Martha
Stella Moore Park - This park is located in Louisa, Kentucky and is a joint effort between the county and the local Little League Organization.  There are 3 baseball fields located in the park.  There is a concession stand which is open during the Little League season.  The county recently added a large playground area with new equipment.  New lights for the ballfields have also been added.  For more information, call (606)-638-4102.
 
Fallsburg Community Center and Park  -  Located in the Fallsburg area of Lawrence County, The Park has a picnic shelter, a much used Basketball Court called the Cage, Swings and a Community Center that has a great area for Reunions, Parties, and much more. For more information please contact Wanda Cassady
