The Lawrence County E-911 center opened its doors and began taking calls in 2001 and we have 7 full time employees. In 2010 we accepted 18,181 calls into our center.
We are a phase 2 911 center which means we can track 911 wireless calls made inside our county. Also we can accept Voice Over Internet calls (VOIP). We currently do dispatching for 2 Law enforcement agencies, 8 fire departments, 1 ambulance service, Emergency Management, and Lawrence County Animal Control Office.
As our mission statement declares we desire to do the best possible service for our county. We remind our citizens that when they move from one location to another we need them to call us at our business number. So we can make the proper changes to our database.
Thank You
The Lawrence County E-911 Staff

August is Back To School Safety Month
With summer ending and the start of school just around the corner, drivers need to do their part to keep kids safe as they walk and bike to school. Whether you are taking your kids to school or just driving through a school zone, you can do your part to keep kids safe.
August is designated as Back-to-School Safety Month, and we want to remind motorists to be extra careful at all times

Back to School Safety Tips:
Here are some simple reminders for drivers:
- Slow down and be especially alert in the residential neighborhoods and school zones
- Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians and on curbs
- Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully
- Watch for children on and near the road in the morning and after school hours
- Reduce any distractions inside your car so you can concentrate on the road and your surroundings. Put down your phone and don’t talk or text while driving
Reminders for your kids:
- Cross the street at corners, using traffic signals and crosswalks
- Never run out into the streets or cross in between parked cars
- Make sure they always walk in front of the bus where the driver can see them.
Summer 2011
This summer the 911 Center is working hard to keep our address database up to date to help us serve our citizens but we need your help. If you change your address within our county (business or residence), please call us and let us know so we can make the change.
We are also trying to get all of our street signs placed or replaced to help our emergency responders get to you faster. And we need your help here also, If you notice a sign missing call the center and let us know and we will get it replaced as soon as possible. If you see someone damaging or stealing a sign please cal 911 and we will report this to the proper Law Enforcement Agency.
There are several ways to contact the 911 Center besides calling the listed numbers. You can contact us via e-mail at lawcoe911@lycomonline.com, or contact us at Facebook by typing in Lawrence County E-911 in the search box.
Have a happy and safe summer. Thanks from the Lawrence County 911 Staff
