County 911 The Lawrence County 911 center is now beginning operation with the best technology has to offer at this time. We have two operating terminals at the 911 center to be able to handle enhanced 911 calls and wireless 911 calls (Cell phone) to give a direction for emergency responders in time of need if someone is unable to give the information or is unaware of where they are. But we must stress that the information for enhanced 911 calls is only good if you have provided the information to the 911 center database. This means that you must at least respond to the notices that has been ongoing for the last two years and verify your name and telephone number with the address that was assigned. If you live in the City of Louisa, where the addresses have not changed ; you need to verify your name and telephone number with the 911 addressing office. In other words if you have not done this and you are not in the database you will not show up on the information screen and we will be back to basic 911 where we have to ask and get directions. So please take the time to verify the information. This way the information will show up and the 911 center can respond someone to the location to help and save a life automatically. You can Reach us Monday thru Friday 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM by contacting the 911 office at 606-638-4851. telecommunicators are being trained in house and then sent to the Department of Criminal Justice Training Center for 4 weeks of academy training to be state certified as telecommunicators. They should in turn be able to handle any and all types of emergencies. These people have dedicated their lives to the safety and well being of the public. Our goal is to Save the lives and property for the future; to provide, maintain, or improve the crisis or event that has enter their lives , to be the link when there is no one else, to provide all that we can do to bring if possible back to a normal life. To be the calm and caring person in the storm. Many never think of the 911 center till they need it, please take the time to educate your family and friends of when to call, what to say and to remain as calm as possible. We also come to schools, churches and functions to promote, and inform public safety and awareness. The office number for information is 606-638-4851 Thank you for your thoughts and efforts.
